Start Your Adventure

Deon Barrett is the founder of the True North Project, an empowering initiative dedicated to reconnecting people with the wild through transformative adventure, personal growth, and self-discovery.

Driven by his identity as a father, Deon’s love for nature is deeply intertwined with his desire to leave behind a legacy of resilience, courage, and exploration for future generations.

As an ambassador for London Youth, he passionately breaks down barriers to the outdoors, inspiring young people from all backgrounds to find confidence and purpose through meaningful outdoor experiences. In 2026, Deon will undertake the adventure of a lifetime as he seeks to become the first Black Englishman to summit Mount Everest, placing him among the extraordinary 0.01% of Black climbers worldwide to achieve this feat.

Through leading life-changing treks, delivering motivational talks, and documenting his epic journeys, Deon champions accessibility and diversity in the outdoors. His powerful story, rooted in courage, authenticity, and determination, proves that finding your “true north” can truly transform lives—and that adventure belongs to everyone who dares to dream big.
